Did you know

I am going to keep saying it, because it is sick that 1 in 4 women are the victim of domestic abuse. Don't ever feel ashamed or alone. That gives your abuser more power over you by isolating you and making you feel that way. Once you remove that feeling you can get help. At the first sign of abuse you feel it in your gut. Don't ignore that feeling. It may not scream abuse, but you know that something doesn't feel right. That's your cue to exit stage left.

When I look at the alarming statistics my stomach hurts. Abuse normally escalates. It is something that may start from one person having a lack of self control, but once you start it there is no reverse. So now they have to render you powerless by continuing to instill a sense of fear in you. Seriously though it's not a game. Don't trick yourself into believing they will stop, won't do it again or will change. I'm sure the 26 year old young lady who lost her life in January to her boyfriend felt the same way. Reach out to a friend or family member. The national domestic violence hotline is available 24 hours a day. 1-800-799-7233. Blessings.
